Looking for a new 17 inch Laptop

I am looking for a 17 inch Quad core with SB Chips

With HP's Pavilion dv6 and dv7 get Envy-like features, Is it possible that dv7 too will have an HD resolution of 1920 X 1080 and a backlit keyboard?

I did a quick search and it doesn't look like they come with backlit keyboards. If i missed something and they do, then getting both shouldn't be a problem.

Its best if you do the laptop Q/A

so we can better help you

As far as the screen goes, the pavilion is unlikely to get those with the envy being HP's premium notebook line. The dv7 would probably only get the 1600X900 screen rather than 1920X1080.

Thank you. I think the best choice will be to go for Envy 17, if DV7 does'nt support HD. I am always impressed with sleek shiny look and feel of Envy 17. I think the only problem with previous generation Envy with Core i7 is the heat issue. Which I think will be overcome once they implement SB CPU with HD 6850. Although G73 is better but I don't like its ugly look and feel. Anyhow when is an Envy Refresh coming?

yes the new DV7 is expected to offer a 1920x1080p display as an option. REported as such in Asia already

Can you show me the source please?

This is the latest news I have about DV7

It was a pre-launch (and speculative) news report from Asia that incorrectly used the term "full HD", which in HP lingo means 1080p. But it turned out not to be true ,so now the best soruce is the DV7t-quad page itself. Go to the specs tab and you can see that the display is 1600x900

I always look for mad pixel density. So looks like Envy 17 is the only option left for me

I won't call that the best source for the Refreshed DV7, except for the Demo Video. All other things on that page is still for the DV7 that was announced in the CES earlier this year. It still has 6570 GPU and we know for sure that the new refreshed ones will have an option of 6770 GPU. For other options we still have to wait to be really sure. ( Damn! How long? )
